Qantas adds flights to Indonesia

JAKARTA: Australian flag carrier Qantas Airways is adding additional flights from Jakarta to Sydney and Perth to encourage more Indonesian tourists to visit the country during the holiday season.

In a press statement, Qantas general manager for Indonesia Stephen Farquer said the airline had increased its flights from Jakarta to Sydney to six times a week from four, and to Perth to four times a week from the usual two.

"Qantas has been flying between Indonesia and Australia for almost 55 years and is the only airline to fly nonstop from Jakarta to Australia," said Farquer.

More than 90,000 Indonesians travel to Australia for holiday or business each year. Australia is also the first choice for many Indonesians study and health care.

In addition to its flights between Jakarta, Quanta also flies twice weekly from Denpasar to Darwin, and its wholly owned Australian Airlines operates seven flights a week from Bali to Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. -- JP
