Qalibaf: Enjoy Current Petrol Prices
Istanbul (ANTARA) - Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf advised the United States on Sunday (12/4) that fuel prices could rise even higher amid increasing tensions between the US and Iran.
“Enjoy the current petrol prices. With what is called a ‘blockade’, soon you will miss petrol prices being 4-5 US dollars,” Qalibaf said in a post on the X platform.
Qalibaf, who is the head of the Iranian delegation in talks with the US in Islamabad, Pakistan, on Saturday (11/4), also attached a screenshot showing petrol prices at a station near the White House ranging from around 4.10 US dollars (Rp70,000) to 5.80 US dollars (Rp99,000) per gallon.
“It could be, or the same, or maybe a little higher; but it should be around the same,” Trump told Fox News.
Qalibaf’s post preceded the announcement by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) that they will begin blockading all maritime traffic entering and exiting Iranian ports starting Monday.
Both sides left Islamabad with major unresolved differences, with both signalling that further diplomatic efforts will still be needed.
The talks in Islamabad are part of broader efforts under a fragile two-week ceasefire action to end the US-Israel war against Iran since 28 February.
