Qalibaf and Araghchi arrive in Qatar for Iran-US negotiations
ISTANBUL - A high-level Iranian delegation led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf and including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Doha, Qatar, on Monday. According to IRNA news agency reports, the visit is part of diplomatic efforts mediated by Pakistan to resolve the ongoing conflict between Tehran and Washington. The report states that consultations will take place with senior Qatari officials regarding various aspects of negotiations to end the conflict. Tensions in the region escalated following a joint US-Israel attack on Iran in late February. A temporary ceasefire, mediated by Pakistan, came into effect on 8 April and was later extended indefinitely by US President Donald Trump. Last Saturday, Trump stated that an agreement with Iran to end the conflict has been mostly negotiated and is awaiting finalisation.
