Q1 Investment Absorbs 939 Indonesian Workers in Bontang
Investment realisation in Bontang during the first quarter of 2026 has not only contributed to regional economic growth but also directly impacted employment, absorbing 939 Indonesian workers across various business sectors. Data from the Bontang Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP) covering January to March 2026 confirmed the figure, underscoring the critical role of investment in creating job opportunities for the local community. Domestic investment (PMDN) accounted for the majority of absorption with 920 workers, whilst foreign investment (PMA) contributed 19 workers. The industrial sector remains a primary driver of job creation, aligning with the high value of incoming investment to the city. The DPMPTSP emphasised its commitment to fostering a conducive investment climate through simplified licensing services and business assistance, expressing hope that the positive investment trend will continue to broaden employment opportunities for the community.
