PT MSIG Life Insurance Indonesia Tbk (MSIG Life) recorded Rp227.29 billion in health and death claims paid between January and March 2026, a 3.2% increase year-on-year. This amount covered over 8,000 beneficiaries.

Elly Susanti, Director and Chief Operating IT Officer at MSIG Life, stated that during Q1 2026, the company paid an average of over Rp75 billion in claims each month to customers and families facing health risks or loss of income.

“These figures demonstrate that insurance protection must work when needed. We are committed to paying all valid claims while upholding business ethics and the principle of utmost good faith,” she said in a statement on Monday, 25 May 2026.

Industry trends show similar claim growth. Data from the Indonesian Life Insurance Association (AAJI) reported health claims reached Rp26.74 trillion in 2025, a 9.1% year-on-year rise, as increasing health risks and medical costs make insurance more relevant for Indonesians.

Among MSIG Life’s claims, heart disease, cancer, and stroke were the most common conditions. Most claims came from working-age customers aged 20-55, accounting for 65.5% of total claimants. This group, typically active earners and primary breadwinners, means health risks directly impact family financial stability.

Critical illnesses often require intensive medical care, from diagnosis and hospitalisation to treatments, recovery, and follow-ups. In such cases, medical costs can become a significant burden for families, especially when the affected member is a key earner.

To address these health protection needs, MSIG Life launched Smile Health Prime health insurance, designed to help customers manage treatment risks while promoting healthy habits. With a No-Claim Discount of up to 15%, policyholders who remain healthy and avoid claims receive more affordable renewal premiums, ensuring health insurance not only provides coverage during risks but also rewards preventive care.
