The Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) recorded investment realisation reaching Rp498.8 trillion in Q1/2026. This figure equates to 24.4% of the 2026 annual target set at Rp2,041.3 trillion.

Although the nominal value increased, the year-on-year (YoY) investment growth rate experienced a slowdown. Growth in the first three months of this year was recorded at 7.2% YoY, significantly decelerating compared to the same period last year, which reached 15.9% YoY with an achievement of Rp465.2 trillion.

Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani stated that he is grateful for the investment realisation achievement, especially considering the current global dynamics full of uncertainties.

β€œIn the midst of global challenges, both in terms of geopolitics and geo-economics, the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming together with the business world conveys that the investment target for the first quarter of 2026 has been achieved and slightly exceeded,” he said during a press conference at the BKPM office in Jakarta on Thursday (23/4/2026).

Furthermore, BKPM data shows that Indonesian labour absorption reached 706,569 people in Q1/2026. This figure jumped 18.9% YoY, increasing sharply compared to absorption in Q1/2025, which was at 594,104 people.

Meanwhile, foreign direct investment (PMA) was recorded at Rp250.0 trillion or 50.1% of total investment, growing 8.5% YoY. The remainder, domestic investment (PMDN), contributed Rp248.8 trillion or equivalent to 49.9% of total investment, with 6.0% YoY growth.

The top five countries of origin for the largest PMA are Singapore (US$4.6 billion), Hong Kong (US$2.7 billion), China (US$2.2 billion), the United States (US$1.3 billion), and Japan (US$1 billion).

In terms of sectors, total downstreaming investment in Q1/2026 was recorded at Rp147.5 trillion, growing 8.2% YoY and contributing 29.6% of total investment.

Specifically, investment growth in the fossil extractive sector experienced a sharp surge. Realisation of oil and natural gas downstreaming investment skyrocketed to Rp17.7 trillion, soaring far from the achievement of Rp6.55 trillion in the same period last year.
