PWNU DKI partners with Dharma Jaya for modern, hygienic Qurban slaughter

The Jakarta Provincial Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PWNU DKI) has partnered with Perumda Dharma Jaya to slaughter 13 sacrificial animals for Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah in a modern and hygienic manner.

‘Alhamdulillah, this year’s collaboration with Dharma Jaya is more practical and reduces contamination at the slaughter site,’ said PWNU DKI Jakarta Chairman Samsul Ma’arif at Perumda Dharma Jaya in Penggilingan, Cakung, East Jakarta, on Thursday.

This initiative is part of efforts to modernise Qurban slaughter to ensure it is more hygienic, practical, and meets Jakarta’s food safety standards.

Samsul explained that this collaboration with Dharma Jaya marks the first time for PWNU DKI Jakarta.

Previously, PWNU DKI conducted traditional slaughter within mosque or residential areas.

‘For the first time, the Qurban slaughter process has been carried out in collaboration with Perumda Dharma Jaya,’ Samsul added.

He noted that Dharma Jaya’s modern slaughterhouse system is superior as it meets ASUH standards—safe, healthy, intact, and halal. Additionally, the halal butchers (juleha) on-site are certified.

‘Sanitation and cleanliness are significantly improved. We ensure animal health, maintain hygiene, and the process is both more practical and quicker,’ Samsul said.

Samsul hopes modern slaughter facilities can be expanded across all areas of Jakarta.

He added that Dharma Jaya handles the entire process from slaughter, packaging to distribution of the Qurban meat.

PWNU DKI Jakarta merely receives the neatly packaged meat to distribute to the public.

‘Everything is already packaged; we just need to distribute it to the public through NU’s local networks,’ Samsul stated.

Meanwhile, Perumda Dharma Jaya’s CEO Raditya Endra Budiman welcomed the trust placed by PWNU DKI Jakarta in Dharma Jaya for this year’s Qurban slaughter handling.

‘This is a point of pride for Dharma Jaya as it has been entrusted by PWNU to process the sacrificial animals here. Naturally, we have standards accepted by the public and health authorities,’ Raditya said.

Raditya confirmed that all slaughter processes are conducted in accordance with Islamic law and strictly supervised by certified professional staff.
