PWNU Central Java's Stance on the Rape Case by a Pesantren Caretaker in Pati
The Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Regional Board (PWNU) for Central Java, KH Abdul Ghaffar Rozin, has highlighted the case of alleged sexual violence against several female students at Pondok Pesantren Ndholo Kusumo in Pati Regency. The figure, familiarly known as Gus Rozin, has urged the police to immediately detain the pesantren caretaker who is the alleged perpetrator. Gus Rozin has called on the police to thoroughly investigate the alleged sexual violence case at Ponpes Ndholo Kusumo and to promptly arrest the alleged perpetrator. “He must be detained at the latest tomorrow,” he stated during an interview on Monday (4/5/2026). He also requested that legal rights, privacy, and protection for the alleged victims be prioritised in handling the case. “The pesantren world must not turn a blind eye to incidents like this because they have a broad impact on the credibility of pesantrens in general,” said Gus Rozin. Pati Police Resort has named AS, the caretaker of Ponpes Ndholo Kusumo, as a suspect in the alleged sexual violence case against several female students. The investigation into the case is currently ongoing. “That’s correct, the perpetrator has been named a suspect,” revealed the Head of Public Relations of Pati Police Resort, Ipda Hafid Amin, when confirmed by Republika via short message on Monday (4/5/2026). When asked about the date of naming the suspect, including whether AS has been detained, Hafid was not yet willing to provide an explanation. He said that would be conveyed through a press conference. “For now, after we confirmed with the investigator, what was conveyed to us is that the case has advanced to the investigation stage and the perpetrator has been named a suspect,” said Hafid. He assured that the alleged sexual violence case by AS is being thoroughly pursued. “The investigators are intensive in handling the case,” he stated.
