PWI discharges 15 members in Palu
PALU, Central Sulawesi: The provincial branch of the Indonesian Journalists' Association (PWI) has dismissed 15 of its members for allegedly blackmailing local officials and businessmen.
"They have been scratched from the membership list of the PWI for violating its code of ethics," South Sulawesi's PWI Chairman Darwies Sijaya said here on Monday.
He declined to reveal the names of the expelled members.
Sijaya called on officials and businessmen, as well as members of the public, to notify authorities should they find themselves being blackmailed or harassed by journalists.
He said the PWI has teamed up with the Independent Journalists' Association (AJI) in efforts to combat people posing as journalists. --Antara
