PWI Chairman: OJK Support Needed to Develop Venture Capital Business Ecosystem
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Chairman of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI), Akhmad Munir, has stated that support from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) is needed to develop the venture capital business ecosystem.
“Many of our startups, especially in building venture capital, often face obstacles in terms of capital existence. That is what we perhaps need to underline, as well as how this venture capital can strengthen its networks, improve its governance, and strengthen its business ecosystem. Therefore, support from OJK is needed,” he said during a Journalism Talkshow themed “Financial Literacy Month: Time to Strengthen Portfolio Quality in Venture Capital” in Jakarta on Wednesday.
As of June 2026, OJK recorded venture capital financing of Rp16.28 trillion, a contraction of 0.48 percent year-on-year (yoy). The total assets of the venture capital industry stood at Rp27.56 trillion, growing from Rp27.2 trillion the previous year, or 1.32 percent yoy.
According to Akhmad Munir, the venture capital industry can be a factor that strengthens micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) startups in developing a sustainable economy, making it healthier and of higher quality.
Therefore, collaboration with various parties is needed to jointly advance the venture capital business ecosystem.
“OJK as the regulator certainly has the authority to support the existence of Amvesindo (the Indonesian Venture Capital Association for Startups) or the venture capital community so that together they can become part of the economic ecosystem in Indonesia,” said the PWI Chairman.
