PWI-Bank Jakarta Introduces Financial Literacy Category for 2026 MHT Awards

The Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) Jaya, in partnership with Bank Jakarta, has introduced a Special Financial Literacy Category for the Bank Jakarta in the Mohammad Hoesni Thamrin (MHT) 2026 Journalistic Works Competition. The category is organised to enhance public understanding of Bank Jakarta’s role and contribution in regional economic development. “The press has an important role in conveying accurate, educational, and beneficial information to the public,” said PWI Jaya Chairman Kesit B. Handoyo in Central Jakarta on Wednesday. According to him, the competition also provides a space for the press to highlight various innovations, services, community empowerment programmes, digital transformation, and Bank Jakarta’s tangible contributions in supporting Jakarta’s economic growth and strengthening micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The Special Financial Literacy Category of Bank Jakarta is open to all mass media journalists in Indonesia. Participants may enter three competition categories: Feature News, Opinion Articles, and Photo Features. There are three main themes participants can choose from: SME Strengthening, Jakarta Banking Digitalisation, and Banking Financial Ecosystems. All entries must include the keyword “Bank Jakarta” and may utilise various official information sources provided by Bank Jakarta. The submission deadline is 31 July 2026. In the initial stage, the judging panel will select the five best works in each category. During the judging process, entries will be assessed based on several key aspects. For the Feature News category, assessment includes depth of coverage, strength of human interest, thematic relevance, writing quality, data accuracy, and originality of the work. In the Opinion Article category, judges will evaluate the strength of arguments, use of data and references, depth of analysis, thematic relevance, and the novelty of ideas presented. Meanwhile, the Photo Feature category will emphasise the photo’s storytelling ability, journalistic value, thematic relevance, technical quality and visual composition, as well as the strength of the accompanying caption. For each category, the organisers are providing awards of a trophy, certificate, and cash prize of Rp15 million for the 1st Place winner. Additionally, the two best nominees in each category will receive certificates of appreciation and coaching funds of Rp5 million each. Kesit expressed hope that this collaboration would be part of a joint effort to build a healthy information ecosystem, increase public trust in the financial services sector, and strengthen synergy between the media, the public, and the banking world in the digital transformation era.
