PwC submits forensic audit on Telkom
JAKARTA (JP): PricewaterhouseCoopers has submitted a forensic
audit report on the West Java and Banten operations of PT Telkom,
covering the period from January 1996 to September 2000, Telkom's
joint-operating scheme (KSO) partner PT AriaWest International
said.
"The findings of this audit will be highly pertinent to all
Indonesians and, indeed, to Telkom's foreign shareholders,"
AriaWest chief financial officer Stephen Dowling said in a
statement on Tuesday.
The forensic audit report was delivered to the offices of
Telkom and AriaWest respectively shortly before 12:00 p.m.
The forensic audit of Telkom's operations was commissioned
late last year pursuant to the terms of the good faith interim
solutions agreement (GFISA), signed between Telkom and AriaWest
in September 2000.
"Within 10 Jakarta banking days following the finalization of
the forensic audit, Telkom will pay to AriaWest any amounts
determined to have been misappropriated, unaccounted for, lost,
stolen or otherwise unreasonably disbursed," the agreement said.
Under the agreement, the findings may not be released to the
public without prior consultation with Telkom.
Dowling said that AriaWest had sent a letter to Telkom
president M. Nazif for a meeting on Friday to discuss the
findings of the audit. (tnt)
