Putu Rai new army spokesman
JAKARTA (JP): Col. I Dewa Putu Rai was installed as the Army
headquarters' new spokesman yesterday, replacing Brig. Gen. Robik
Mukav.
Mukav has been given an administrative position at the Armed
Forces headquarters.
Putu Rai, a 1971 graduate of the Magelang-based National
Military Academy in Central Jakarta, is a relatively new man to
the press as most of his military career was spent in the
intelligence department.
"However, I believe that my duties will be easier because a
good system is in place at the Army's Information Department," he
said. "What I need to do is make the personnel at the Information
Department work harder and be more professional."
Putu Rai had been working at the Armed Forces' Intelligence
Agency for several years before he assumed the position of
military attache at the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok.
He spent his earlier military career at the Army's
Transportation Directorate.
The outgoing spokesman, Robik, called on the press to support
the new spokesman so that the Army's Information Department would
be able to improve its performance.
Robik, who has been the Army's spokesman since April last
year, will take up a new post at the Foundation of the Armed
Forces Headquarters.
The transfer-of-duty ceremony was held at the Army
headquarters on Jl. Merdeka Utara yesterday in the absence of
Army Chief of Staff Gen. Wiranto. (imn)
