Putri Zulkifli Hasan: Governance of Natural Resources Must Deliver Tangible Benefits for the People

Jakarta, VIVA – The Deputy Chair of the House of Representatives’ Commission XII, Putri Zulkifli Hasan, expressed her support for President Prabowo Subianto’s address on the Macro Economic Framework and the Key Policy Guidelines for Fiscal Policy (KEM PPKF) for the 2027 RAPBN. In his speech, Prabowo stated that Indonesia’s natural resource wealth must truly be enjoyed by all Indonesians. Prabowo also emphasised the constitutional mandate that the land, water, and all natural resources contained therein must be used for the greatest possible welfare of the people. In response, Putri Zulkifli Hasan said the government’s policy direction needs strengthening, particularly in natural resource governance. It is hoped that economic benefits will not stop at the upstream sector but will also create added value, strengthen the domestic industry, and improve people’s welfare. ‘The President’s message is very clear: the management of natural resources must truly deliver tangible benefits for the Indonesian people. Therefore, governance of the export of natural resource commodities, downstream processing, and the strengthening of the domestic industry are extremely important,’ Putri said in a statement on Wednesday, 20 May 2026. Putri also highlighted Prabowo’s remarks regarding the claimed success of investments that have created around 2.7 million jobs. According to her, this achievement must be safeguarded through economic policies that are people-oriented and promote the equitable distribution of development benefits. ‘Investment must continue to be encouraged, but its orientation must remain on job creation, strengthening the domestic industry, and increasing the welfare of the people,’ she stated. Putri Zulkifli Hasan also welcomed the government’s commitment to developing new and renewable energy, including the strengthening of solar energy as part of the national energy transition toward sustainable energy independence. Putri stressed that the DPR will continue to oversee strategic policies so that Indonesia’s economic development proceeds sustainably and remains aligned with the people’s interests. ‘Indonesia’s economy must be anchored in national interests and the welfare of the people.
