Putri Zulhas: President's Message on SDA to Strengthen the People’s Economy

Deputy Speakers of Commission XII of the DPR RI expressed their support for President Prabowo Subianto’s address during the 19th plenary session of the DPR RI on the Macro Economic Framework (KEM) and the Core Principles of Fiscal Policy (PPKF) for the RAPBN 2027.

At the time, the President stressed that Indonesia’s wealth from natural resources (SDA) must truly be enjoyed by all Indonesians. Prabowo also underscored the constitutional mandate that the land, water, and all natural wealth contained therein must be utilised to the fullest extent for the prosperity of the people.

One of the Deputy Speakers of Commission XII, Putri Zulkifli Hasan, assessed that the government’s direction of policy on natural resource governance needs to be strengthened so that economic benefits do not stop at the upstream sector, but also create added value, strengthen the domestic industry, and improve the welfare of the people.

“The President’s message is very clear: natural resource management must truly deliver tangible benefits for the Indonesian people. Therefore, the governance of exports of SDA commodities, downstream processing (hilirisasi), and the strengthening of the domestic industry are extremely important,” said Putri.

Furthermore, Putri highlighted the President’s statement regarding the success of investments that are said to have created around 2.7 million jobs. According to her, this achievement must be safeguarded through economically pro-people policies that promote the equitable distribution of development benefits.

“Investment must continue to be encouraged, but its orientation must remain on job creation, the strengthening of the national industry, and the improvement of people’s welfare,” she said.

Putri also stated that she welcomed the government’s commitment to the development of new and renewable energy, including the strengthening of solar energy as part of the national energy transition towards sustainable energy independence.

As the head of Commission XII of the DPR RI which deals with energy, the environment, investment, and downstream processing (hilirisasi), Putri emphasised that the DPR RI will continue to safeguard various strategic policies so that Indonesia’s economic development proceeds sustainably and remains in line with the people’s interests.

“Indonesia’s economy must rest on national interests and the welfare of the people. Collaboration among the government, the DPR, the business world, and all stakeholders is the key to realising a just, self-reliant, and sustainable Indonesia,” concluded Putri.
