Palu (ANTARA) - The son of politician Ahmad Ali, Mohammad Anugerah Pratama, has resigned from the NasDem Party as well as his position as a member of the Palu City Regional Council for the 2024–2029 period.

Speaking in Palu on Tuesday, the man affectionately known as Nugie stated that his resignation documents were signed and submitted to the Chairperson of the NasDem Party Palu City DPD on 5 August 2026.

“On 5 August 2026, I had signed all the documents and submitted them directly to the Chairperson of the NasDem Party DPD, and they were immediately verified with the KPU. Therefore, I am officially no longer with NasDem,” he said.

Nugie is the son of the couple Ahmad Ali and Nilam Sari Lawira. Ahmad Ali currently serves as the Daily Chairperson of the DPP of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), while Nilam Sari is the Chairperson of the NasDem Central Sulawesi DPW.

Nugie was elected as a member of the Palu City Regional Council for the 2024–2029 period and serves as the Second Vice Chairperson of the Palu City Regional Council representing the NasDem Faction.

“I am focusing more on my future career. As for my feelings, lately…” he remarked.

He stated that one of the underlying reasons for the decision relates to the political journey of his father, Ahmad Ali, who he believes has contributed to the NasDem Party for 11 years.

“The most fundamental reason is that my father has managed NasDem for 11 years. In my view, it is important for a party to appreciate its cadres,” he said.

Nugie also touched upon his experience within NasDem. According to him, there was a discrepancy between NasDem’s slogan as a ‘party without dowry’ and the experiences he encountered while part of the party.

This statement reflects Nugie’s personal perspective regarding his time as a NasDem cadre.

He noted that his decision to leave NasDem was not solely based on personal issues, but also related to plans to continue his political career and develop ideas that have not yet been fully realised.

Nugie views PSI as providing space for the younger generation and stated that one of his future focuses is to encourage young people to better understand and participate in politics.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Palu City Regional Council, Rico Djanggola, confirmed that the Council has received Nugie’s resignation notice and that the Inter-Time Replacement (PAW) process is currently underway.

The PAW proposal was submitted via letter Number 09-SE.2/DPD-NasDem-Palu/IX/2026, dated 20 September 2026.

Rico explained that the Regional Council will subsequently write to the Governor via the Mayor to obtain a decree regarding the candidate for the Regional Council who will replace Nugie, in accordance with the political party’s proposal.

“The Regional Council is processing the PAW request from the party according to the applicable mechanisms and regulations,” he said.

Currently, the PAW process for Mohammad Anugerah Pratama is still ongoing within the internal administration of the Palu City Regional Council.
