Putin says Ukraine crisis nearing its end

Situation on the battlefield suggests the Ukraine crisis is nearing its end, although it is impossible to determine the duration of the crisis while hostilities continue, said Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Putin made the statement during a press conference following his state visit to Kazakhstan on Friday, 29 May.

He stated that Russia’s attacks on Kyiv were a response to Ukrainian strikes on the Luhansk region, adding that Russian forces are launching attacks along the entire frontline of the special military operation zone.

Putin also dismissed European politicians’ statements about preparing for war with Russia as ‘nonsense’, stating that Russia has never threatened European nations in the past or present, but any location posing a direct military threat to Russia would be considered a ‘legitimate target’.
