Putin presents proposal to transfer Iran's enriched uranium to Russia to Xi Jinping
Moscow (ANTARA) - Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, on Thursday (21 May), said that Tehran and Washington should discuss Moscow’s proposal to transfer Iran’s enriched uranium to Russia. Speaking at a press conference in Moscow, Peskov said the U.S. had not yet received the proposal. According to Peskov, President Vladimir Putin discussed the proposal with President Xi Jinping of China in a closed conversation. “They talked about Iran during a meeting over tea. He (Putin) shared it (the idea),” the Kremlin spokesperson said. Peskov declined to provide further details, saying: “Precisely because of that, the conversation was held behind closed doors.” Separately commenting on Cuba, Peskov said the U.S. blockade of the island has disastrous consequences for ordinary people living there. “The blockade of that island has never happened before and has catastrophic humanitarian consequences for ordinary people living there,” he said. “Of course, further show of force in the form of fleets and so on will only worsen the situation for the island’s residents,” he added. Responding to U.S. accusations against former Cuban leader Raul Castro, Peskov said Moscow opposes coercive tactics against senior political leaders. “We believe that under no circumstances should such methods, which border on violence, be applied to current or former heads of state. This is not the first time we have seen this. We do not approve of this,” he said. “We believe that the pressure being applied to Cuba cannot be justified,” he added. Source: Anadolu
