Putin Praises Prabowo's Easter Greetings from the Leader of the World's Largest Muslim Nation

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that he was very pleased with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s Orthodox Easter greetings during his visit to the Kremlin in Moscow on Monday (13/4/2026).

Putin also alluded to Prabowo as the head of state with the world’s largest Muslim population.

“We are very pleased to hear the holy Easter greetings, especially from the head of state with the world’s largest Muslim population,” said Putin, as reported from the Setpres YouTube channel on Monday.

“Our country is a multi-confessional nation, and we celebrate all holidays together with our brothers who adhere to other religions,” he continued.

He viewed Prabowo’s visit as having great and important significance.

“Especially considering the current situation and developments in the world. Also in terms of enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly in the economic field, and we thank you and warmly welcome and greatly appreciate Your Excellency’s visit,” Putin added.

Previously, Prabowo Subianto extended Orthodox Easter greetings to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“I am grateful to be received in such a short time. I also extend my congratulations on the important day that Your Excellency and the entire Russian people have just honoured, Easter,” said Prabowo, on the Setpres YouTube channel on Monday.
