Putin Praises Iran's Bravery Against US, Reveals Moscow is Providing Necessary Aid

Russian President Vladimir Putin has praised the “bravery and resilience” of Iran amidst its conflict with the United States. Putin stated that Moscow is providing the necessary aid and logistics during what he described as a “difficult period.”

“Russia stands in solidarity with the people of Iran and praises your bravery and resilience in defending your independence,” Putin told Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian during a meeting on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Kyrgyzstan on Tuesday (1/9/2026), as reported by the Kyiv Post.

Putin also requested Pezeshkian to convey greetings and “words of brotherly support” to Iran’s Supreme Leader.

“During this difficult period, we are trying to provide you with the necessary assistance,” said Putin. “We have discussed this with you, and we are supplying you with the required goods.”

Amidst the current political and military situation, Putin stated that Russia and Iran continue to maintain economic relations and proceed with cooperation within their comprehensive strategic partnership. Moscow and Tehran have dramatically deepened their economic and military ties since Russia launched its large-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Iranian President Pezeshkian thanked Putin for Moscow’s support during the conflict with the US and throughout the years of Western sanctions.

“We appreciate and are grateful for your position at every stage, both during periods of war and aggression and in normal situations, when the United States imposes sanctions on us, both through the UN and international forums,” said Pezeshkian.
