Putin Meets China’s Premier as Kremlin Floats Three-Country Summit

Russian President Vladimir Putin met Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Wednesday (21 October 2026). Putin said relations between Moscow and Beijing were developing successfully and dynamically.

The remarks came amid the possibility of a high-level meeting involving Russia, China and the United States. The Kremlin has previously raised the prospect of a trilateral meeting between Putin, US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The meeting could take place on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, scheduled to be held in China next month. Relations between Russia and China, and the possibility of a meeting with Trump and Xi, are in focus amid shifting international dynamics involving the three countries.
