Putin Invites Prabowo to Attend Industrial Exhibition in Russia in July
Russian President Vladimir Putin has invited President Prabowo Subianto to attend several events in Russia, namely activities in Kazan in May and an industrial exhibition scheduled for July.
“President Putin also extended an invitation to President Prabowo to attend the event in Kazan to be held in May and the major industrial exhibition to be conducted in July,” said Foreign Minister Sugiono in his statement, as seen on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube, Tuesday (14/4/2026).
Sugiono stated that this invitation is part of strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. He hopes that Indonesia-Russia relations will become increasingly intensive and bring benefits to both nations.
“In this context, it is part of strengthening relations between the two countries, which is hoped to become increasingly intensive and bring benefits to both parties,” he said.
Furthermore, Sugiono conveyed that the bilateral meeting between Prabowo and Putin discussed several focuses of strategic cooperation between the two countries. He said that strengthening relations encompasses various sectors, from economy and trade to agriculture.
“As we all know, Russia is one of Indonesia’s strategic partners and also an important trading partner for Indonesia’s trade and economy. Several future plans are also being made around strengthening economic relations between the two countries and people-to-people relations between Russia and Indonesia,” he said.
In addition to economic cooperation, the two countries share similar views on global issues. Sugiono mentioned that Indonesia and Russia agree to continue strengthening multilateral structures, upholding peace efforts, and maintaining regional stability and security for mutual interests.
“Certainly, politically, the two countries agree to continue efforts to strengthen multilateral structures, then respect and undertake efforts to achieve peace,” he said.
“And certainly related to security and regional stability, where everyone must be able to gain better benefits, especially between Indonesia and Russia,” he continued.
The meeting between Prabowo and Putin took place at the Kremlin Palace, Tuesday (13/4). After the bilateral meeting with Putin, Prabowo immediately departed for France to meet with President Emmanuel Macron.
