Putin increases Russian armed forces personnel to nearly 2.4 million

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday issued a presidential decree setting the authorised personnel strength of the Russian Armed Forces at 2,399,130. According to the decree published on Russia’s official legal information portal, the figure includes 1,510,000 active military personnel. The revision increases the number of military personnel by 7,360 from the 1,502,640 established in a decree in March. Putin previously stated that more than 700,000 Russian soldiers have been deployed to the special military operation zone. He said Russian authorities are drafting schemes that include educational opportunities, medical rehabilitation support, and job placement services for veterans and participants of the special military operation.
