Putin extends Eid al-Adha greetings, highlights Muslim community's role in Russia's development
Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended Eid al-Adha greetings for 1447 Hijriyah to all Muslims, particularly those in Russia, whom he acknowledges as having made significant contributions to the nation’s development. ‘I extend my congratulations to Muslims in Russia on Eid al-Adha,’ Putin stated in a Kremlin-released message shared via the Russian Embassy in Jakarta’s social media on Wednesday. He noted that Muslims consistently adhere to Islamic teachings and uphold ancestral traditions in widely celebrating Eid al-Adha. Putin said Eid al-Adha calls upon faithful Muslims to return to the sources of Islamic teachings and promote goodness, justice, compassion, and piety. The Russian president highlighted the significant role of Muslim communities and organisations in enriching Russia’s social and cultural life. According to him, Russian Muslims place great emphasis on strengthening family values and educating the youth with a spirit of patriotism. They are also highly active in implementing educational and charitable initiatives of high social value in Russia, Putin added. The Russian president also stated that the efforts of Russian Muslims in supporting defenders of the homeland and their families deserve the highest recognition. He wished Muslims abundant blessings and success during the Eid al-Adha celebrations. ‘May you all be blessed with health, success, and all the best,’ Putin concluded. Muslims worldwide, including in Indonesia and Russia, celebrated Eid al-Adha on Wednesday, coinciding with the 10th of Dhu al-Hijjah in the Islamic calendar.
