Putin Delighted as Prabowo Greets Him on Easter and Cosmonaut Day
A relaxed atmosphere was created during the meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin Palace in Moscow, Russia. Prabowo extended congratulations on Easter and Cosmonautics Day, which were received with delight by Putin.
This was conveyed by Prabowo during his bilateral meeting with Putin at the Kremlin Palace in Moscow, as seen in a YouTube broadcast by the Indonesian Presidential Secretariat on Monday (13/4/2026). Prabowo appreciated Putin’s prompt acceptance of his visit request.
“Once again, I thank you for receiving me in such a short time, and I also extend congratulations that Your Excellency and the entire Russian nation have just honoured an important day, Easter. I also know that a few days ago, if I’m not mistaken, just yesterday, on 12 April, it was Cosmonaut Day (Cosmonautics) for Russia, which has a great influence in the world,” said Prabowo.
Prabowo stated that Cosmonautics Day, commemorating the first human flight into space, is an important historical milestone for the world. He mentioned that not a few Indonesians are named after Yuri Gagarin, the first human in space from the Soviet Union (now Russia).
“Many Indonesians name their children Gagarin, Yuri, many, ha-ha-ha…,” said Prabowo.
Putin smiled upon hearing Prabowo’s statement. Putin appreciated the remarks from Prabowo.
“We are very pleased to hear the Easter greetings, especially from the head of state with the largest Muslim population in the world,” said Putin.
“Our country is a multi-confessional state, and we, together with our brothers who follow other religions, still celebrate all religious holidays, thank you,” he continued.
