Putin and Pezeshkian discuss developments in the Middle East situation

Moscow (ANTARA) - Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the latest developments in the Middle East region with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian via telephone, according to a Kremlin statement on Sunday.

“During the telephone conversation, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian discussed the latest developments in the Middle East,” the statement read.

In the discussion, Putin emphasised to Pezeshkian his readiness to contribute to finding political and diplomatic solutions related to the conflict with the United States.

According to the statement, Russia is also maintaining contact with all parties in the region to ensure long-term peace in the Middle East, the Kremlin said.

Pezeshkian also conveyed his thanks for Russia’s steadfast position on the issue, including on international platforms, to ease the situation.

“Masoud Pezeshkian also thanked Russia for the humanitarian assistance provided to the Iranian people,” the statement read.

When discussing bilateral cooperation, the two leaders reaffirmed their joint commitment to strengthening good neighbourly relations between Russia and Iran in a comprehensive manner.
