Puteri Komarudin Urges Customs to Enhance Service Quality

House Commission XI member Puteri Komarudin is urging the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) to strengthen oversight and improve the quality of customs services. The Golkar Party faction member made the remarks during a hearing on the Ministry of Finance’s 2027 Work Plan and Budget at the DPR on Monday (15/06).

“We hope DJBC will continue to pursue a comprehensive reform agenda. Moreover, DJBC has already received direct instructions from the President regarding export-import practices, necessary strengthening measures, and the ongoing issue of under-invoicing,” Puteri said in a written statement. “We agree that this is an excellent momentum for DJBC to further reinforce its supervisory services and governance.”

Puteri also reminded DJBC to continue improving the dwelling time indicator, which measures how long containers remain at the port from stacking until they exit the port area. She noted that for business operators, the most tangible factor is not just the regulations, but how quickly goods can leave the port. Currently, dwelling time stands at around 2.9 days. “It is indeed much better than a few years ago, but there is still considerable room for improvement, thereby enhancing national logistics efficiency and strengthening Indonesia’s economic competitiveness,” she said.

Meanwhile, Director General of Customs and Excise Djaka Budi Utama acknowledged continuous efforts to accelerate dwelling time, including optimising the process for releasing goods from the port area. “For both inbound and outbound goods services, we are already in line with the expected national standards,” he said. However, Djaka noted that even after goods are cleared for release, congestion still occurs because some companies continue to utilise storage facilities provided by the port. “We are compelling these companies to expedite the removal of goods from the port area,” Djaka stated.

Puteri also supported Customs in maintaining coordination with PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (PT DSI) in preparing for the implementation of strategic natural resource commodity export governance policies. “There must be no confusion among exporters regarding procedures, authority, reporting systems, and other matters,” Puteri said.
