Pusri gets ISO-9002
JAKARTA (JP): State-owned fertilizer manufacturer PT Pupuk
Sriwijaya (Pusri) has received an ISO-9002 certificate for
quality management.
The ISO-9002 certificate was awarded by Erik Roger, the
Indonesian director of the Britain-based international
organization for standardization, SGS Yarsley International
Certification Services.
Pusri's president, Suhadi, received the certificate on behalf
of the company during a ceremony at the company's headquarters in
Palembang, South Sumatra, Antara reported.
Suhadi said Pusri started upgrading the management of its
ammonia and urea production lines in 1993. In less than a year,
he said, the company had made adjustments which allowed it to get
the ISO-9002 certificate.
Presently, 120 companies in Indonesia have received ISO-9000
certificates.
Indonesia's fertilizer production up to the end of the year is
set at 3.8 million tons, of which 2.05 million tons are produced
by Pusri. Ten percent of Pusri's production is exported, while
the remaining 90 percent is used domestically. (pwn)
