Puspom assures action against soldiers backing misuse of subsidised fuel and LPG

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian National Armed Forces’ Military Police Centre (Puspom TNI) has assured that it will take firm action against any rogue soldiers backing the misuse of subsidised fuel (BBM) and LPG.

“The TNI will not tolerate it; we will take firm action if there are suspected perpetrators or backers from TNI elements, as this is a commitment from the leadership that it will be dealt with decisively,” said Deputy Commander of Puspom TNI, Air Marshal First Bambang Suseno, during a press conference with Polri at Bhayangkara Field, National Police Headquarters, Jakarta, on Tuesday.

He also urged the public to report to Puspom TNI or the relevant regional military police (Pomdam) if they encounter rogue soldiers acting as backers in such misuse practices.

Subsequently, he explained, the investigation process will be adapted to the location of the incident.

“So, if it happens in a certain place, for example in Central Java, it will be handed over there. We will then carry out supervision and coordination,” he said.

He also revealed that in 2025, there were two rogue personnel suspected of involvement in cases of misuse of subsidised BBM and LPG.

Currently, those cases are under investigation by the regional military police in Central Java and Bekasi.

“So, as I stated earlier, we are committed to taking firm action and will not protect anyone. Whoever it is, if during the development of the investigation the intellectual actors are found, we will announce it,” he said.

Meanwhile, at the press conference, the Director of Specific Crimes (Dirtipidter) of Bareskrim Polri, Police Brigadier General Moh. Irhamni, explained that in 2025, there were 658 cases of misuse of subsidised BBM and LPG that were successfully uncovered, securing 583 suspects. Whereas in 2026, the uncovered cases numbered 97 with 89 suspects.
