Puspom: 4 Suspects in Acid Attack from TNI BAIS, from Navy and Air Force Branches

Four TNI soldiers suspected of throwing acid at Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of KontraS, have been secured. TNI Puspom Commander Major General Yusri Nuryanto stated that all four suspects are members of the Denma BAIS TNI unit, from the Navy (AL) and Air Force (AU) branches. “We convey that all four suspected perpetrators are members of Denma BAIS TNI, not from any other unit but from Denma BAIS TNI,” said Maj Gen Yusri during a press conference at TNI Headquarters, Jakarta, on Wednesday (18/3/2026). When asked further, Yusri specified that the four suspects are from AL and AU. “From AL and AU,” he added in response to the question. Furthermore, Yusri revealed that three of the four suspects hold officer ranks. The highest, he continued, is a captain. “So Captain NDB, First Lieutenant SL, First Lieutenant BHW, Sergeant ES. During the investigation, we will work as thoroughly as possible with the hope that we can carry it out as quickly as possible in a professional manner,” he said. He stated that the suspects have now been secured. They are also still being probed by Puspom TNI. “These suspected perpetrators are now being secured at TNI Pom for further investigation leading to formal proceedings,” he said. “We are also still probing what the motive of the suspected perpetrators was,” he added.
