Puspom: 4 Military Personnel Involved in Acid Attack on Andrie Yunus from TNI's BAIS

Four TNI personnel suspected of carrying out an acid attack on Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), have been secured.

TNI’s Deputy Chief of the Military Police Command, Major General Yusri Nuryanto, stated that all four suspects are members of the Military Police unit of the TNI’s Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS).

“We confirm that these four alleged perpetrators are all members of the BAIS TNI Military Police unit, not from any other unit but specifically from the BAIS TNI Military Police,” Yusri said during a press conference on Wednesday, 18 March 2026.

Yusri explained that the four suspects in the acid attack on Andrie Yunus are from the Navy (AL) and Air Force (AU) branches.

“From the Navy and Air Force,” he clarified.

Previously reported, four TNI personnel were involved in the acid attack on KontraS’s Deputy Coordinator, Andrie Yunus.

This was revealed by TNI’s Deputy Chief of the Military Police Command, Major General Yusri Nuryanto. Yusri said he received information about the alleged involvement of the four TNI personnel only that morning on Wednesday, 18 March 2026.

“So this morning, I received from the BAIS TNI Military Police unit four individuals suspected of carrying out the assault on Mr Andrie Yunus,” Yusri stated during the press conference on Wednesday, 18 March 2026.

Yusri added that the four TNI personnel have been secured, and authorities are currently investigating the motive behind the acid attack on Andrie Yunus.

“So we are still delving into what the motive was for these four alleged perpetrators,” he said.

The acid attack on Andrie Yunus took place in the Salemba area, Central Jakarta, on Thursday night, 12 March 2026.

Head of Public Relations for Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, confirmed the incident involving the splashing of a dangerous liquid on the activist.

“We confirm the incident of an alleged splashing of a dangerous liquid on a victim in the Salemba area, Central Jakarta. The victim is currently receiving medical treatment at RSCM,” Budi said in his statement on Friday, 13 March 2026.
