Purwakarta Regent Tightens Crowd Permits Following Beating at Wedding Celebration
Purwakarta Regent Saepul Bahri Binzein has stated that he will tighten permits for public gatherings in his region following an assault on a wedding host that resulted in the victim’s death, allegedly perpetrated by thugs demanding a cut. Saepul will soon issue a circular regarding restrictions and stricter permitting and supervision of crowd permits for events such as weddings and circumcisions. “We will issue a circular for restrictions and tightening the permitting and supervision of crowd permits at events, whether weddings or circumcisions,” Saepul said, quoted from a post on his personal Instagram account on Tuesday (6/4). He stated that permits will only be granted if all parties in the area can guarantee security and order during the event. “Thus, in the future, for crowd permits for events, weddings, or circumcisions, there must be an integrity pact for participation in maintaining security and order from all parties in the area, including the village head, LPM, youth leaders, and community figures,” he said. He also expressed concern and condolences over the incident. Saepul urged the public to fully entrust the legal process to the police. “To the family, the community, and all of us, never doubt it, fully entrust this case to the police. Entrust this matter to the Purwakarta Police Resort,” he stated. A resident named Dadang (57) died during his child’s wedding party after being beaten by several people who were allegedly drunk. The incident occurred last Saturday (4/4). At 14:50 WIB, while organ entertainment was underway, a group of people believed to be intoxicated joined the event. They demanded money from the organ player to buy more drinks. The organ organiser offered Rp100,000, but the individuals refused, claiming it was insufficient. The victim Dadang approached the commotion. He even clashed with the troublemakers. However, the brawl could not be avoided. The victim was chased by the perpetrators to the front of his house. In front of many guests, family, and his child seated on the wedding dais, Dadang was assaulted with a bamboo stick. The perpetrators, seeing the victim collapsed and unconscious, immediately fled. The family, seeing Dadang lying down, tried to take him to Bhakti Husada Hospital. However, upon arrival at the hospital, the victim was declared dead by the on-duty staff. Police later arrested two perpetrators of the assault on Dadang.
