Purwakarta Regency Government Targets 6,945 Uninhabitable Homes Repaired Within 3 Years

Purwakarta Regent Saepul Bahri Binzein has set a target to complete repairs on 6,945 uninhabitable homes (RTLH) within the next three years. The total number of uninhabitable homes in Purwakarta Regency stands at 10,650 units, of which 3,705 have already been addressed.

Residents currently living in uninhabitable homes will need to remain patient, as the Purwakarta Regency Government will carry out repairs in stages. Regent Saepul Bahri Binzein said that when he took office, the number of RTLH in Purwakarta Regency reached 10,650 units, with around 1,576 homes successfully repaired through the regional budget (APBD) and BSPS assistance.

“Of the 10,650 units, we are repairing them one by one gradually. In 2025, 1,576 homes have been repaired through the APBD budget, BSPS, and assistance from other parties,” said Saepul Bahri Binzein on Wednesday (19/8).

Despite thousands of RTLH remaining, Om Zein expressed optimism that all can be completed in stages. According to him, handling RTLH is part of the vision he has championed through the slogan “Jalan Mulus, Imah Alus” (Smooth Roads, Beautiful Homes).

The programme not only targets better road infrastructure development but also ensures that residents, particularly low-income citizens, have decent housing. “I created the slogan Jalan Mulus, Imah Alus. The target is how to make roads smooth and the homes of poor people become good. But it does take time,” he said.

Om Zein acknowledged that during the handling process, some residents’ homes were found to be in very poor condition, with some nearly collapsing or already severely damaged. He asked the public to give the government time to complete the remaining 6,945 RTLH.

“Give Om Zein time to complete these 6,945. Within the next three years, at the very least, we will finish them,” he concluded.
