Purwakarta BPBD Begins Distributing Clean Water to Residents Affected by Drought
A prolonged dry season is now being felt by residents in Purwakarta Regency, West Java. This natural phenomenon is having a significant impact on the lives of village communities, who are beginning to experience difficulties in obtaining clean water. The Purwakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has distributed clean water aid to residents of Kampung Pasir Peuteuy RT 010/003, Pamoyanan Village, Plered District, and to three neighbourhood units in Batutumpang Village, Tegalwaru District. According to the latest data from the Purwakarta BPBD as of Friday (17/7/2026), 56 families comprising 173 individuals in Pamoyanan, Plered District, and 446 families comprising 1,349 individuals in Batutumpang, Tegalwaru District, are already experiencing clean water shortages. Purwakarta BPBD Chief Executive Heryadi Erlan Wibisana stated on Sunday (19/7) that the agency had distributed 15,000 litres of clean water to the two villages, with 5,000 litres delivered to Pamoyanan Village and 10,000 litres to Batutumpang Village, transported in stages using a tanker. Erlan noted that the clean water aid currently being distributed is highly beneficial for the community, particularly for meeting daily needs. He added that the Purwakarta Regency Government will continue to strengthen collaboration with relevant agencies and the business sector so that the handling of drought impacts can be carried out quickly, precisely, and sustainably to meet the basic needs of the community. The Purwakarta Regency Government has also prepared long-term anticipatory measures by cooperating with and requesting assistance from the regional water utility company (PDAM) in distributing clean water to drought-affected locations by deploying PDAM tanker vehicles.
