Purwakarta Anniversary: KDM Urges Residents to Protect Nature and Ecosystem
West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has called on all elements of society to protect the natural environment and ecosystem as the main foundation for regional development. “I urge everyone, take good care of the universe, protect the waterways and all plant life. Take care of Purwakarta so that it grows into a district with a basis of ecosystem ideology, philosophy, and technocracy. Everyone must have a strong vision, that is, Purwakarta Istimewa (Special Purwakarta),” he said in a statement on Thursday (23/7/2026). He made the remarks while attending the Plenary Session commemorating the 195th Anniversary of Purwakarta and the 58th Anniversary of Purwakarta Regency at the Purwakarta Regency DPRD Building on Monday (20/7/2026). The man affectionately known as KDM also extended his congratulations on Purwakarta’s anniversary while expressing appreciation to several figures who have contributed to the region’s development. Among these figures were Lili Hambali Hasan, Dudung S. Suardi, and various religious scholars who consistently provide moral support and advice. KDM stated that this anniversary serves as a momentum to strengthen environmental awareness. This is also in line with enhancing religious values in community life. “Let us realise righteous deeds in life by safeguarding the great trust from God to us, namely the land we live on and the water we drink at all times,” he said. Beyond environmental aspects, KDM also highlighted the importance of character building for the next generation. He expressed hope that the spirit of protecting nature would go hand in hand with the commitment to prepare the children of Purwakarta and West Java to become a resilient generation. “Let us prepare our children to become pious individuals, radiating a light of goodness that will lead them to become a golden generation in the future,” KDM concluded.
