Purwadi sets new national record in standard pistol

JAKARTA (JP): Purwadi S. of Brawijaya shooting club set a new national record in the standard pistol individual event on the fourth day of the Inter-club National Championships at the Bung Karno Shooting Range in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Saturday.

Purwadi scored a total of 563 to break the old record of 562 set by Wisnu Suharyono during the seventh Asian Shooting Championships in Beijing in 1991.

Idsyam Kaplale of East Java Police took the silver with 558 followed by Iriantoni of Kartika with 552.

The Kartika men's team contributed one more gold in the standard pistol team event to extend the club's domination atop the medal tally with nine golds overall.

The team consisting of Iriantoni, Herry Keswanto and Mukroni scored a total of 1636 for gold. The Bimantara club of Yudi Swandarta, Andy Hendrata and Hans Wibowo was far behind with 38 points and had to be satisfied with second place after scoring 1598.

The Timor team of Richard Hendarmo, Sutan Muamar A. Y. and Darwin Nasution finished third with a total of 1439.

In the free rifle three positions individual event, Thomas Leo of Bimantara scored a total of 1105 to win the gold. Silver medalist was Ari Setiatmoko of Timor who scored a total of 1103, followed by Soekarno of Pupuk Kaltim with 1096.

The National Police women's team took the gold in the air pistol team event. The team, consisting of Bary Agustini, Desak Putu Puspawati and Nuris Melly scored a total of 1077.

Irma, Lolo Sampoerno and Delani of Bimantara were second with 1061 while Ony Radjaloa, Suwenti and Fitriana Hawa of East Java Police finished third with 1057.

Unfortunately, Bary failed to repeat her success in the individual event where she only took the bronze, scoring a total of 460.4. The gold medal went to Kadarwati of Rudal who scored 463.7 from four series of shootings while Amanty Muslimah of Bali Police was second with a total score of 460.5. (ivy)
