Global economic uncertainty is prompting more Indonesian high-net-worth individuals to shift assets to the United Arab Emirates. Stability, transparency and long-term growth prospects are the primary reasons for choosing the region as an investment destination.

Dubai and Abu Dhabi now act as magnets for investment, underpinned by strong regulation, an efficient tax framework, a currency pegged to the US dollar, and a resilient property market. These conditions position the UAE as a hub for international wealth diversification. A recent report projects more than 9,800 wealthy individuals will relocate to the UAE in 2025, making it one of the world’s leading destinations for millionaires.

International wealth and real estate advisory firm Sport Legacy, which operates in the UAE and Europe, notes rising interest from Indonesian investors in opportunities in the region. ‘The Emirate offers a rare combination of asset security, investor-friendly market conditions, and solid demand fundamentals,’ said Soufyan Daafi, founder of Sport Legacy, in a statement on Friday (6 March).

The phenomenon is also reflected in steps by public figures such as Indonesian international footballer and entrepreneur Marc Klok, who has begun diversifying his portfolio into Dubai real estate. Beyond high-profile figures, more wealthy Indonesian entrepreneurs and business owners are following suit, signaling a shift in asset allocation toward global diversification.

According to Sport Legacy, Indonesian investors are increasingly attracted to premium residential and mixed-use developments, with flexible payment schemes, access routes linked to the ten-year Golden Visa, and competitive rental yields. Sustained population growth also reinforces the appeal of the Emirate’s property sector.

The shift of assets abroad raises questions about its impact on domestic investment markets. Analysts say the diversification trend toward the Emirate reflects a demand for US-dollar-denominated hedging instruments amid rupiah fluctuations and global market uncertainty. Nonetheless, the Indonesian government continues to strive to maintain domestic investment attractiveness through fiscal incentives, strengthening the capital market, and developing Islamic finance investment instruments.

Sport Legacy offers comprehensive services—from asset selection, due diligence, wealth management, to portfolio strategy. This approach ensures capital is placed securely while aligning with long-term financial objectives.
