The Wonosobo Regency Government (Pemkab) in Central Java has acknowledged a decline in purchasing power among residents since the beginning of this Ramadan period. This coincides with price increases in several essential commodities, which is a routine annual phenomenon. Nevertheless, the overall economic condition remains under control.

Kristijadi, Assistant for Economics and Development of the Wonosobo Regency Secretariat, stated to journalists on Sunday (8 March): “Although there has been a decline in public purchasing power at the beginning of Ramadan, the overall market economic condition remains under control.”

He explained that so far, stocks of basic goods remain secure and prices remain stable. The Wonosobo Regency Government will continue to conduct intensive monitoring and follow up on feedback from the public, particularly regarding improvements to market facilities and cleanliness.

Captain Cke Sapta Wibawa, Commander of the Wonosobo Military Sub-district (Danramil 01/Wonosobo) representing the Wonosobo District Military Commander, emphasised the TNI’s commitment to supporting regional stability.

“We ensure that the regional situation remains conducive and safe, and that the distribution of basic goods runs smoothly. Joint monitoring with relevant agencies will continue to be carried out so that people do not experience difficulties in obtaining essential needs ahead of Eid al-Fitr,” said Captain Cke Sapta Wibawa.

Previously, the Wonosobo Regency Government conducted monitoring of essential goods. This monitoring activity is part of the preventive effort by the Wonosobo Regency Government to maintain price stability and food supply during the Ramadan 1447 H period. The local government has also prepared follow-up measures such as affordable market operations at various village points to maintain public purchasing power.

The Wonosobo Regency Government hopes that, with close synergy between the local government, TNI, National Police, and relevant agencies, Wonosobo residents can carry out their Ramadan fasting and celebrate Eid al-Fitr peacefully with their basic needs met.
