Purbaya's Message to Three New Directors-General Highlights Fiscal Stewardship

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has inaugurated three new Directors General who previously served in acting capacities (Plt and Plh).

The three newly appointed Directors General are Sudarto as Director General of Budget, Herman Saheruddin as Director General of Financial Sector Stability and Development, and Evita Mantovani as Director General of State Assets.

In his inauguration speech, Purbaya advised the new Directors General to uphold the mandate entrusted to them by the people through the President and the Finance Minister.

“I want to convey that this inauguration is not merely a change or a filling of positions. This is the handover of the state’s mandate, the people’s mandate, and the President’s mandate to all of you,” Purbaya stated during the ceremony on Wednesday (1/7/2026).

Purbaya continued by noting that current global conditions remain volatile and continue to affect various aspects of public life, necessitating the Ministry of Finance’s presence to serve the community.

“We are working in a non-simple situation. The world is changing rapidly, global economic movements are constant, the needs of the people are increasingly tangible, and the demands for the government to work faster, cleaner, and more effectively are rising. In these conditions, I want the Ministry of Finance to be an institution that remains calm under pressure, sharp in reading risks, and courageous in making significant decisions,” he added.

Purbaya also emphasised the necessity of safeguarding the State Budget (APBN) so that the public can live with peace and comfort, without worry.

“We must guard the State Budget very carefully. Every rupiah of state funds must truly provide benefits for the people, support the President’s priority programmes, and maintain public trust in the government. We must not work solely based on administrative logic,” he asserted.

Purbaya urged the new Directors General to work with a great sense of responsibility and to always act in the interest of the people.

“We must work with responsibility, sensitivity, and an alignment with the people’s interests. To the newly appointed officials, I want to remind you that the position you hold is a very significant trust,” said Purbaya.

“Behind every decision you make, there is an impact on the state budget, state assets, economic stability, the business world, and the lives of the people. Therefore, I ask that you lead with integrity, courage, empathy, and professionalism,” he concluded.
