Purbaya's Message to Three New Directors-General Highlights Fiscal Stewardship

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa inaugurated three new directors-general who previously held acting and temporary roles. The three newly appointed Directors-General are Sudarto as Director-General of Budget, Herman Saheruddin as Director-General of Financial Sector Stability and Development, and Evita Mantovani as Director-General of State Assets. In his speech at the inauguration, Purbaya advised the new directors-general to carry out the mandate entrusted by the people through the President and the Finance Minister. “I want to convey that this inauguration is not merely a change or filling of positions. This is the handing over of a state mandate, a people’s mandate, and the president’s mandate to all of you,” Purbaya said in his speech on Wednesday. Purbaya continued that the current global situation is constantly moving and volatile, affecting people’s lives, and therefore the Ministry of Finance is present to serve the public. “We work in a situation that is not simple. The world is changing rapidly, global economic movements continue to shift, the people’s needs are increasingly tangible, and the demand for the government to work faster, cleaner, and more effectively is higher. In conditions like these, I want the Ministry of Finance to be present as an institution that is calm under pressure, sharp in reading risks, and courageous in making big decisions,” he continued. Purbaya also stressed the need to safeguard the State Budget so that people can live calmly and comfortably, without worry. “We must guard the State Budget very carefully. Every rupiah of state money must truly provide benefits for the people, support the president’s priority programmes, and maintain public trust in the government. We must not work only with administrative logic,” he asserted. Purbaya asked the new directors-general to work with a great sense of responsibility and always side with the people. “We must work with a sense of responsibility, sensitivity, and partiality to the people. To the newly inaugurated officials, I want to remind you that the position you hold is a great trust,” Purbaya said. “Behind every decision you make, there is an impact on the state budget, state assets, economic stability, the business world, and people’s lives. Therefore, I ask you to lead with integrity, courage, empathy, and professionalism,” he concluded.
