Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated that the government will provide incentives for Indonesia’s capital market. These incentives will be given if the programmes in the capital market run well over the next six months.

“If the programmes go well, say six months from now, you can come to me and ask for incentives,” said Purbaya at the inauguration of the Planned and Periodic Investment Programme (PINTAR) for Mutual Funds at the Indonesia Stock Exchange, Jakarta, on Monday, 27 April 2026.

Purbaya explained that the ministry also has interests in the financial sector. According to him, funds injected into the capital market can help drive the economy, one of which is if used to purchase bonds.

The State Treasurer has not yet decided on the form of incentives to be given. However, one option that could be provided is the elimination of tax. “For example, when there is a capital gain, he withdraws and makes a profit, it could be that the capital gain is not taxed,” said Purbaya.

The Executive Head of the Capital Market Supervisory Authority, Financial Derivatives, and Carbon Exchange OJK, Hasan Fawzi, welcomed the plan to provide these incentives positively. He hopes the incentives given are in the form of fiscal incentives, such as taxation.

“In our case, it’s indeed in the form of final income tax. Hopefully, mutual funds will also be given additional incentives again, and ownership of bonds listed on the exchange hopefully there is room for incentives to be given, including shares,” said Hasan at the Indonesia Stock Exchange, on Monday, 27 April 2026.

He also hopes that issuers that increase free float in the public can receive incentives with varying levels.
