Jakarta (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa plans to transfer 200 to 300 employees from the Directorate General of Budget (DJA) to the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP).

This step is taken in line with the additional human resource needs at DJP, while DJA is deemed to have excess staff.

“The DJP is short of employees, while the Directorate General of Budget has a surplus. Instead of recruiting new people, I will transfer some, perhaps 200-300 people to the DJP,” said Purbaya at the Ministry of Finance office in Jakarta on Friday.

According to him, the mutation policy is an effort to improve efficiency, particularly in meeting employee needs within the taxation environment.

Through this scheme, the government can also curb the potential increase in employee expenditure as there is no need for new recruitment.

Another reason, Purbaya assesses that DJA employees have adequate competence in fiscal management, making it relatively easy for them to adapt when placed at DJP.

This is considering that most DJA employees are graduates of the State Financial Polytechnic STAN under the Financial Education and Training Agency of the Ministry of Finance.

“They are not new employees and my burden doesn’t increase. So I am enhancing the DJP’s function without significantly increasing the budget burden. They can be trained, they are all educated people, on average holding bachelor’s degrees or from STAN,” stated the State Treasurer.

Purbaya added that the employee adaptation process is estimated not to take long because they already have experience in the fiscal field.

In fact, according to him, one to two weeks of tax training is considered sufficient to support adjustment to tasks in the new unit.
