Purbaya to Allocate Budget for Expanding Bright Panel Programme in Schools

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa will provide a budget for the implementation of the Bright Panel programme using digital education boards or Interactive Flat Panels (IFPs), to support the learning process for students in schools.

He made the statement after directly reviewing the use of Bright Panels in several schools in Jakarta, to see firsthand the implementation of the programme initiated by President Prabowo Subianto.

“We will provide a sufficient budget in accordance with the request, in accordance with the President’s plan,” Purbaya said in his statement on Wednesday, 12 August 2026.

Although he did not specify the total budget to be prepared, Purbaya said that the expansion of the programme would be carried out in stages. Next year, the government plans to increase the coverage of Bright Panel usage, which can then be expanded in subsequent years according to needs and evaluation of the programme’s implementation.

Purbaya also encouraged the government to determine which schools should be prioritised, so that the utilisation of the facilities can be carried out optimally. Subsequently, coverage can be expanded to all classrooms in recipient schools.

“What is clear is that this is a very good programme. I witnessed the teaching process in the classroom myself, and for me it was very interesting and easy to grasp,” he said.

Purbaya had previously stated that the use of digital education boards or Interactive Flat Panels (IFPs) in schools is an effective programme in supporting the learning process.

During the visit, he also took part in the classroom learning process directly. Based on his observations, the use of digital learning technology is able to help teachers deliver relatively difficult subject matter in a way that is easier for students to understand.

“It turns out I witnessed it earlier, I followed the class, sat for half an hour in two classes. It was very effective, making difficult subjects able to be taught relatively easily to the students,” Purbaya said.

Purbaya said that the benefits were evident at both lower secondary and upper secondary education levels. According to him, the use of Bright Panels will make it easier for students to absorb new knowledge, because learning materials can be delivered in a more engaging and interactive way.
