Purbaya Tasked by Prabowo on Oil Price Simulations

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated he has received instructions from President Prabowo Subianto regarding oil prices. Purbaya explained that the President instructed him to create budget simulations as oil prices become volatile again. “The President asked us to conduct simulations for oil prices under different scenarios. Not just one, but several, to see how our budget would fare,” he told the media at his office in Jakarta on Friday (24/7/2026). Purbaya said the government is currently focused on the targeted distribution of subsidised fuel, so that it can control the volume of fuel consumption amidst the renewed volatility in crude oil prices. “We are ensuring the subsidy is right on target so the volume can be controlled,” said Purbaya. “We will wait to see what Pertamina proposes regarding the targeted distribution of subsidised fuel,” he continued. As is known, Pertamina’s CEO Simon Aloysius Mantiri visited Purbaya’s office at the Juanda Building in Jakarta on Friday (24/7/2026). According to CNBC Indonesia’s observation, Pertamina’s CEO Simon arrived at Juanda around 13.00 WIB. Purbaya admitted his meeting with Simon would discuss the price simulation scenarios, particularly Pertamina’s technology to make the distribution of subsidised fuel oil targeted. “I want to know what technology will be used to restrict distribution so the subsidy is right on target,” said Purbaya.
