Purbaya: State Spending Reaches Rp 1,656 Trillion, Tax Revenue Rp 1,459 Trillion

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa revealed that the realisation of the Free Nutritious Meal programme budget had reached Rp 101.1 trillion by the end of the second quarter of 2026. The programme has benefited 63.13 million recipients. Additionally, Purbaya reported a budget realisation of Rp 13.1 trillion for the People’s Schools programme, covering 104 permanent schools. Purbaya stated that this budget realisation reflects the role of the State Budget as an agent of development to accelerate the implementation of priority programmes. The State Budget is also optimised to act as a shock absorber and protect the poor. The government is tasked with maintaining public purchasing power and stabilising the prices and supply of fuel and food through subsidies and compensation. For this purpose, the government disbursed Rp 116.0 trillion and Rp 116.9 trillion respectively. Social protection for the poor and vulnerable continues through programmes such as the Family Hope Programme, the Basic Food Card, and the Smart Indonesia Programme, with realisations of Rp 14.5 trillion, Rp 19.7 trillion, and Rp 8.8 trillion. To sustain economic momentum, the government has also provided various stimulus packages supporting business continuity and economic activity, including tax incentives for national writers, holiday transport discounts during the Eid and school holiday periods, and internship and vocational programmes. Overall, state spending reached Rp 1,656.0 trillion by the end of the second quarter of 2026, growing 17.8 percent year-on-year. Central government spending reached Rp 1,298.6 trillion, growing 29.4 percent year-on-year. Purbaya noted that spending was influenced by the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal programme, distribution of social assistance, infrastructure development, payment of holiday bonuses and the 13th-month salary, pension benefit payments, and payments for fuel and electricity subsidies and compensation.
