Purbaya Seeks Harley Davidson at AGO Auction, Jokes About Wife's Approval
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa joked that if there are auctions of assets seized by the Attorney General’s Office, particularly Harley Davidson motorcycles, he would like to participate. He made the remarks at the Asset Recovery Agency (BPA) Fair 2026 handover event held at the BPA Office of the Attorney General’s Office in Jakarta. Purbaya initially discussed seized auction items that had not been paid for and asked whether any Harley Davidson motorcycles were among them. If so, he expressed interest in buying one. “What are the items? No Harley-Davidson? If there is, I want to redeem it,” Purbaya quipped on Monday, 15 June 2026. He admitted his desire to own a Harley Davidson motorcycle had been long-standing but was hindered by his wife’s approval. He therefore asked whether auctions of seized goods at the Attorney General’s Office would be held again following the one conducted in May 2026. If the auction at the Attorney General’s Office reopens, Purbaya said he wants to participate, as he once won a land asset auction from such events. “Next time if there is an auction, let me know too, Sir. I want to join. I once bought from an auction, got land, not bad,” said Purbaya. “Is it allowed for officials to join the auction? It is, right? I also want to get a cheap one. Not too cheap perhaps, the price goes up, right?” he added. Purbaya further joked that he would invite other officials to buy auctioned assets if the opportunity arises. However, he expressed doubt whether they would be willing to join, as they might already be financially well-off, unlike himself who feels he is just getting by and is still interested in auctions. “Tell other officials to buy too if there is, or maybe they don’t dare to buy? Perhaps they are already rich? Only I have just enough money,” he said.
