JAKARTA - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has dismissed rumours circulating on social media that the state coffers are left with only Rp 120 trillion. Purbaya assured that the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) is in very healthy condition. He claimed that the APBN is still able to finance government programmes and drive economic growth. “The rumour that state funds are down to Rp 120 trillion and will be exhausted is untrue,” Purbaya stated in a statement from the Indonesian Government Communication Agency (Bakom) RI on Friday (24/4/2026). He also urged the public not to fear the APBN’s condition. “There is no need to fear the government’s APBN; it is still sufficient, and we still have plenty of funds,” he emphasised. Purbaya then explained that the Rp 120 trillion is part of the government’s Budget Balance (SAL) that has been stored at Bank Indonesia (BI). He detailed that the government still has an SAL of Rp 420 trillion that has not been used at all. “The Rp 300 trillion has been placed in banks to provide additional liquidity so that credit can flow. That is what I call mastery of monetary policy,” said Purbaya. Meanwhile, Purbaya added that the step of depositing funds in banks is also part of efforts to boost the economy, as the interest earned can be used to finance government programmes. He claimed that the government’s approach in maintaining the APBN’s health and credibility has received praise from investors during his visit to the United States (US) last week. “So I want to emphasise again, the APBN condition is good. Even the investors there are impressed. They no longer question the deficit and so on; everything is clear to them. The IMF and World Bank are the same; they no longer ask about it,” Purbaya added.
