Purbaya Revives BSF: I Will Help the Rupiah My Own Way
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa will activate the bond stabilization fund. This is a policy instrument believed to be capable of strengthening the rupiah exchange rate.
Purbaya stated that the bond stabilization fund is not a new policy instrument. This policy already exists and will be revived in the near future. The fund is used to repurchase Government Securities (SBN) in the secondary market.
“This is my own, not the (bond stabilization) framework. The Bond Stabilization Fund belongs to the Ministry of Finance, it says. Well, I’ll just revive it,” he asserted, quoted on Thursday (7/5/2026).
He said this instrument differs from the Bond Stabilization Framework of the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK). He added that this policy does not need to be coordinated with BI or OJK.
“It doesn’t have to, right, like placing my money at BI in a bank, just in a different form,” he said.
When asked how much funding will be prepared for the buyback of debt securities released by investors, Purbaya does not yet have a definite figure. However, he is confident that this policy can help stabilise the rupiah.
“I will try to help the rupiah in my own way,” he asserted.
