Purbaya reveals that officials from the Ministry of Finance and other ministries/agencies will be appointed as supervisors for DSI

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa disclosed that several officials from the Ministry of Finance and from other ministries/agencies will be appointed as supervisors at PT Danantara Sumber Daya Indonesia (DSI). He said the placement of supervisory personnel from various ministries/agencies was an idea proposed by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto. ‘That proposal from the Co-ordinating Minister, if we want proper supervision we must put people there, including from finance, from other ministries as well so it doesn’t become a monopoly,’ Purbaya said at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, on Friday. He said the supervision is needed so that DSI does not become a monopoly entity that can act arbitrarily and possibly cause new problems. He noted the oversight system at DSI will be better than previous institutions so that it does not become a monopoly that disrupts the market. ‘I think the supervision at DSI will be better than the institutions that exist previously, so it won’t become a monopoly that disrupts the market,’ he said. Purbaya also said the supervisory elements at DSI will come from various ministries and agencies. ‘From everywhere (the ministries/agencies involved),’ he concluded. The Government has established PT DSI as a company with a special mandate to manage and supervise transactions of export commodities from strategic natural resources. The establishment of DSI is motivated by the persistent practice of under invoicing and transfer pricing in several Indonesian export commodities over the years. In practice, DSI will operate in two phases. In the first phase, running from 1 June to 31 December 2026, DSI will act as an evaluator and intermediary between sellers and buyers of certain export commodities. Earlier, President Prabowo Subianto, during a Plenary Session of the Indonesian DPR at Nusantara Building, MPR, DPR, DPD RI in Jakarta, on Wednesday (20/5), announced that the government had issued a Government Regulation (PP) on the Governance of Export of Natural Resource Commodities (SDA). In that PP, Prabowo said the new rule makes state-owned enterprises the sole exporters for commodities such as palm oil, coal, and ferro alloy. ‘The sale of all our natural resource outputs, we will begin with palm oil, coal, and ferro alloy, and we require that sales be conducted through state-owned enterprises designated by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia as sole exporters,’ said President Prabowo.
