Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated that several global investors are interested in investing in Indonesia after hearing his explanations about the domestic economic and fiscal conditions. Purbaya discussed with these major investors on Monday, 13 April 2026, during his visit to the United States.

Several investors from international asset management companies met by Purbaya included BlackRock, HSBC Global Asset Management, Lazard AM, Lord Abbett, and TD Asset Management. To the investors, Purbaya explained Indonesia’s economic conditions, fiscal strategies, and future outlook.

After the meeting, Purbaya revealed the results of his discussions. “So they seem convinced that our fiscal movements or policies are heading in the right direction. It appears they are interested in investing in Indonesia,” he said.

The former Chairman of the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) stated that the investors asked several questions to confirm their doubts about Indonesia’s actual conditions. He recounted that initially, the investors were doubtful because they had heard reports that the government’s fiscal management was problematic. “So they wanted to ensure that it was not true, and what our fundamental policies are like,” he said.

The downgrade of Indonesia’s debt outlook was one of the discussion topics. However, Purbaya claimed that the global investors could accept the explanations through the economic theory he presented. The Finance Minister also received input on improving communication with global investors.

The government has also prepared strategies to make investors confident in investing in Indonesia by ensuring economic growth aligns with the targets in the State Budget. “If Indonesia can grow by 5.5 percent in the first quarter and remains strong in the second quarter, this will make them more confident to increase their investments in Indonesia,” he said.
