Purbaya Reveals Prabowo's Message: We Have Plenty of Money, Don't Be Afraid!

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa received an important message from President Prabowo Subianto instructing him to reassure the public not to worry about the current economic conditions and state finances.

The Head of State conveyed this message to Purbaya during a limited meeting of the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK) with Prabowo at the State Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday (5/5/2026).

“So our prospects (for the economy) are good. The President also told me to pass on the message that my money is sufficient, there’s plenty of it. So you don’t need to be afraid,” said Purbaya during a press conference at the State Palace, quoted on Wednesday (6/5/2026).

Purbaya then emphasised that the rupiah exchange rate will continue to be stabilised and strengthened by the government, one of which is through the issuance of Panda Bonds in China.

The issuance of yuan-denominated bonds, said Purbaya, is a step to reduce dependence on the US dollar.

“To strengthen the exchange rate, we will also issue bonds in Panda Bonds in China with lower interest rates, so we are not too dependent on the dollar anymore,” he stressed.

In addition to the rupiah issue, Purbaya also discussed Indonesia’s economic growth, which reached 5.61% in the first quarter of 2026. He said this achievement is a sign that the Indonesian economy is experiencing acceleration.

“So, our economy is experiencing acceleration. So our diversification will be even better going forward. So our prospects are good, friends, don’t be afraid,” he added.
